Chinese robotics manufacturer Galileo unveiled its Galileo X ground mobility system at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing on 24 August 2026. The event marked a significant entry into the market for the company’s new system, designed to handle tasks previously split between wheeled vehicles, off-road trucks, and legged robots.

Unified Control Framework

The system relies on a proprietary platform built on an integrated hardware architecture and unified control framework. This approach attempts to bridge the gap between different hardware architectures, kinematic models, and control algorithms used in various types of ground robots. Galileo X combines the high-precision indoor transport of wheeled Automated Guided Vehicles with vehicle-level long-range off-road mobility. It also serves as a mobile chassis for humanoid robots and as a platform for mobile operations. By integrating intelligent operations across diverse environments, Galileo claims the system lowers whole-life-cycle maintenance costs.

In practice, this hardware shift means that a warehouse manager might not need to buy three distinct machines: one for driving pallets, one for moving heavy equipment outside, and another for climbing stairs or uneven ground. The Galileo X platform is intended to handle the indoor transport of AGVs, the long-range off-road capability of vehicles, and the uneven terrain navigation of quadrupeds in a single unit. This consolidation simplifies fleet management for industrial operators who currently rely on a patchwork of different robotic solutions.
