Hong Kong launches InnoHK’s third hub Science Park
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, together with the Innovation and Technology Commission, marked the opening of the SEAM research cluster at Science Park, a new hub designed to accelerate technology development in emerging industrial domains such as sustainable development, energy, advanced manufacturing and materials.
The launch ceremony brought together senior officials including the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, the Chairman of HKSTP, the Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, the Deputy Director‑General of the Economic and Financial Department II of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology and the Chief Executive Officer of HKSTP. Representatives from local and overseas universities, international research organisations, R&D centres and industry partners also attended to witness the commencement of the SEAM initiative and to discuss its research roadmap and potential industrial applications.
As the largest innovation and technology ecosystem in the region, HKSTP supplies the SEAM research centres with a full suite of professional services. State‑of‑the‑art laboratories, seamless links to academic institutions, access to a deep talent pool and connections to investor networks are all integrated to help research teams translate breakthrough discoveries into market‑ready solutions.

The research platform unites leading universities and institutes from around the globe, drawing on expertise from institutions such as the University of Cambridge, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Nagoya University, the National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University and Peking University.
Among the participating centres, collaborations involve Nobel laureates who bring unparalleled scientific insight. A Nobel laureate in Chemistry from the University of Groningen contributes to the Centre of Functional Materials for Energy and Sustainability.
InnoHK serves as a flagship initiative of the HKSAR Government, aiming to position Hong Kong as a global hub for scientific research cooperation.
